SM3 Helmet
Designed for motocross, enduro, and off-road riding, the SM3 delivers an optimized blend of impact protection, lightweight performance, ventilation, and comfort. The thermo-injected shell incorporates a special polymer blend with varied thicknesses for an ideal balance of protection and reduced weight. The lightweight outer shell is constructed from impact-resistant thermoplastic, while a composite-fiber inner shell between the outer shell and EPS liner provides additional impact protection. Fit can be tailored to the rider’s head with adjustable crown and cheek pads, available as spare parts in different thicknesses.
Construction
Multiple-density inner liners place the correct density in each area for enhanced impact absorption and reduced overall weight. The six-piece EPS liner uses five densities to effectively manage volume and impact performance. A polished EPS liner with a low-friction coating helps reduce friction with the comfort liner and manage rotational impacts. The inner and outer surfaces are engineered to minimize the effects of oblique impacts, while the coating helps reduce rotational acceleration forces and acts as a slip plane to mimic the brain’s natural low-friction cerebrospinal fluid.
Features and Protection
Ten air inlets and seven exhaust ports maximize ventilation and heat transfer, with the visor directing air into the ports for enhanced airflow. A visor release system releases the visor with a predetermined amount of force to help reduce forces on the rider’s neck during an impact. The recycled-material comfort liner helps reduce the product’s carbon footprint. Integrated hydration tube channels in the cheek pads add convenience, while the 25 mm soft textile chin strap provides safety and comfort. An Emergency Release System and removable cheek pads support safe, easy helmet removal, with 3D-contoured foam for comfort. The chin area is optimized for impact performance, and stainless steel D-rings provide a secure fit.
